A rare find in the Archaeological Revival style, an impressive demi-parure comprising a splendid matching locket brooch with pendant and earrings in its original and very well preserved Velvet and Silk lined presentation case. Circa 1860's/70's, this fabulous set expresses the obsession with historical style influencing fashion at the time when fascinated by ancient art and design, goldsmiths studied the historic techniques used to create items shewn in museums across Europe and fashioned jewels such as this inspired by those ancient finds. 

All very skilled work involving a multitude of techniques including granulation and the finest wirework to shape grape vines with floral centres, each ovalled section is decorated with blue and white star enamel work and central seed pearl, within finely detailed applied wirework and tasselled drops in 18ct yellow Gold. A wonderful collector's piece.
